When Pinterest Goes Wrong

I (Laura) have been spending the week with my best friend from college Maxy Keller (Who will be married in just two days!!) Being engulfed in wedding culture I felt the need to blog on it.

I have decided there are four types of gifts one will receive for their wedding day.

The first type of gift is: the registered gift

For every bride the wedding registry is high on the priority list. These gifts will fill her home for years to come and reflect the brides personal since of style. She will spend long hours looking at, using, and enjoying these gifts in her daily life. She is grateful for all those who will buy things off of her registry.

The second type of gift is: the knock off gift

These gifts are still highly appreciated by the bride. If they are not exactly right they can be exchanged for something more practical or in a different color. She is grateful for the thought and will enjoy them.

The third type of gift is: the regift

The Bride may or may not know. If you plan on giving this gift to a bride be sure that you hide your tracts well. If she finds out she will be disappointed and maybe even offended.

Maxy received a regift this week. The partially ripped box was the give away for her. Unfortunately the original owner forgot to clean the dirt and dust out of the bottom of the bowl...

The fourth type of gift is: the homemade gift

This is the most risky type of gift to give a bride. She will love it or she will hate it, but either way she is stuck with it. With the development of the new website Pinterest I feel that there are many people getting into the DIY gifts. While these things can be great fun to make a person, one should think wisely of their abilities before giving a homemade gift to a bride. She maybe smiling on the outside when she receives this gift but on the inside she is thinking "I know just what I'm bringing to my next White Elephant/Dirty Santa party!"

Poor Maxy receivd two homemade gifts this week that were less than desirable. They were just too good (and by good I mean awful) to not show you...

For those of you who are married I would love to hear about your worst unasked for gift! Just leave us a comment.

January Plans

We're not sure if you have heard or not so we wanted to let you know we have a big trip coming up in January! I just got my new passport today so It got me excited and thinking about it!

OK, time to test your current event knoweldge. Where are we going? (Answers are located at the bottom of the blog.)

1)

2)

3)

Did you guess correctly? If so you are smarter way than me!

We will be going with our school, GGBTS, on a M. trip for almost 2 weeks in January. This trip will be half experiencing well known biblical sites and half doing ministry. Steve and I are beyond excited becuase we feel that this trip will have several big impacts on our future.

First, this trip will greatly enhance our work here in America. As we serve in our local church, we will be better able to describe Bible culture and locations, making the Bible come alive both for us and our congregation's members. Secondly, we are particularly excited about this trip because we have a desire to serve overseas, possibly in this area of the world. It would give us the chance to see what work would be like there and get to know the people of the region. The ministry we will be doing on this trip includes encouraging local M. workers by listening to their stories, working to share the good news, and visiting local schools. As you can likely guess we are thrilled for this opportunity!

So far we have raised all but $1065 of the money we need to go! We are praying that a little more support will come in between now and January. Please pray for that with us. We would also ask you to pray for our group as we prepare and participate in this opportunity. Your prayer is the greatest tool in reaching these nations.

Until next time,
Laura
