Ruth 18 Months Old!

Wow our tiny baby is already 18 months old! We couldn't be more excited and proud of the sweet spunky girl she is. Here is a little about Ruth these days:

Weight- 22.3 lbs
Height-31.5 inches
Head- 17.5 inches
Clothes size- 12-18m
Shoe size- 5
Diaper size- 4

Likes- Baby (her doll), gymnastics, going for walks, singing songs (row row row your boat, rise and shine and give God the glory, and head shoulders knees and toes are all favorites), being in the kitchen with Mama, babies, cheese, cell phones, dogs, reading books, "treats" (anything sweet), swings, lemons, helping Mama with chores, figuring things out, bellybuttons, being tickled.

Dislikes- when Mama leaves the room without her, being told no, laying down for a nap, being dropped off for church or other activities, sitting still,

Communication- Ruth has a vocab of about 25 words! Right around 18 months she started pairing two words together. Her first sentence was talking to herself in a mirror. She could see several of her reflections and she said "Hi Babies!" It was too cute! Ruth also does a few signs for different items. We really like that she is able to communicate with us. It really cuts down on us both being frustrated.

Mobility- As most people know Ruth was a very steady walker/climber by the time she turned 1. Since then she has gained more and more balance and agility. She enjoys doing her gymnastics classes swinging on the bars, climbing, and learning to jump on the trampoline. She is pretty good at keeping up with the older kids in her class.

Chuck E. Cheese June 2014

Last weekend Steve and I got the urge to go and do something as a family. We finally concluded to go to Chuck E. Cheese. (We are enjoying still being in the days of just deciding things last minute!) We would say it was a total success other than Ruth did not like Chuck E. He surprised her from behind when she was eating pizza and was so scared she just started to shake. From then on she was on high alert watching for the mouse to come back. (Who could blame her, it's a GIANT MOUSE!) The day ended with 240 tickets, and a few junky prizes to show for them! We had a blast!

Sew Fun: Rompers and Dresses

Over the last 6 Months I have been enjoying my Christmas gift of a sewing machine. A few months ago I posted about sewing my first dress for Ruth. She is finally big enough to wear it! If you want to see how she has grown click here! Here are a few pictures from before church last week!

Each week Steve is gracious enough to let me enjoy a girls craft night in Mill Valley. Each week we all work on our own craft projects while enjoying catching up and sharing words of wisdom in the areas of ministry and parenting. The last two weeks I worked on my first romper! I was pretty pleased with the results! Here are a few pictures from the 4th of July.

Ruth 1 Year Old!

It's amazing how quickly this year has gone by. This time last year we were snuggling with Ruth as she showed us her tongue. We couldn't help but laugh through our tears of joy as she showed us her sweet personality. A year later she continues to show us her sweet nature. We couldn't be more proud of the toddler she is turning into.

Height:
Weight:
Clothes Size: 6-9M and 9M
Shoe size: 3
Diaper size: 3

Likes: Popsicles (pieces of ice in a mesh food bag), grapes, musical toys, watching people while out and about, being noticed by a stranger, her reflection, brushing her teeth, bath time, Mama's rain boots, books, bananas, playing with friends, following Mama around the house, drinking out of a straw, getting into cabinets and drawers, climbing stairs, getting her way!

Dislikes: being told to get out of the kitchen, bathroom, or laundry room, not getting a Popsicle, getting strapped into the carseat, waiting, being held when she wants to get down, being dropped off somewhere, Mama leaving the room, sitting still for a diaper change.

Firsts- This month Ruth tried several new foods, She started with getting some cake at our 1 year photo shoot. She couldn't get past the fondant circles to get into the cake, but she liked what she did try! Her birthday weekend she was allowed to try french fries for the first time. They were a hit! We may have created a french fry monster! Today on her actual birthday she got to try ice-cream for the first time. She couldn't have cared less. She must take after her mother who isn't much into ice-cream either.

Ruth celebrated her first birthday in style with a nautical themed party! We held it at the church and had such a blast! We will post a blog on the party soon!
