Ruth 2.5 years old!

It's hard to believe our sweet baby is now 2 and a half years old! Ruth is very independent and loves to do things herself. Just like many two year olds she is learning her boundaries and teaching us so much about parenting. She has a huge heart and loves deeply. She never meets a stranger and amazes us with how grown up she is. It feels like she is 2 going on 20!

Weight- 27 lbs (23%)
Height- 34 inches (24%)
Clothes size- 2t and 3t
Shoe size- 7
Diaper size- 5/pull-ups (potty training)

Likes- frozen, music, candy, pretending, pink and purple, chicken, school, playing with kids, Sunday School, popcorn, helping with chores (other than cleaning up her toys), cooking in her kitchen, drawing, birthdays, Doc McStuffins, Chucky (her imaginary friend based off of Chuck E. Cheese), Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Winter the cat.

Dislikes- Picking up her toys, not being given the food she wants, having her tv show turned off, going shopping when tired.

Big Sister!!!- Ruth found out that she was going to be a big sister this year! She has kept a firm guess that the baby will be a girl for the full nine months! She is very excited to meet this baby and also believes she has a baby in her belly. Daddy on the other hand has a sheep!? (haha!!)

School- This August Ruth started school at Noah's Ark Preschool 2 mornings a week. She is in a 2 and 3 year old class and is thriving. She loves her teachers and her many friends. We have been amazed to watch her grasp new concepts and see her vocabulary explode.

New Mexico Life- Ruth is a huge fan of hot air balloons! We really enjoyed this fall as we could spot many on our drive to school. We even had an exciting morning when one showed up in front of our house for a fund raiser. We are hoping next year she might be brave enough to go in one but for now they are just a little to loud.

Ruth 2 years old!

Our little girl is 2! We are still trying to wrap our minds around where the last two years have gone. She is spunky fun and always up for a challenge. The word "can't" is not in her vocabulary.... Though "no" is! She is so loving and a friend to all . (Including animals and toys.) we couldn't be more proud of our sweet Ruth and can't wait to see what this year has in store!

Height: 33 inches
Weight: 24 lbs
Clothes size: 18-24m
Shoe size: 5.5 or 6
Diaper size:4

Likes: cats, cheese, coloring, baby dolls, her family, music, church, gymnastics, older kids, grouping things, purses, cooking in her kitchen, Daniel tigers neighborhood.

Dislikes: bed time, the answer is no, sitting still, not getting to watch tv when she wants too, having to pick up toys.

Language: Ruth has a huge vocabulary! There is not much she can not communicate using her words. She uses sentences that are 3-7 words long regularly. She can identify most pictures in books and is starting to have a grasp on colors. She has not mastered her alphabet yet but likely will within the next 3 or 4 months.

New experiences: over the last year Ruth has gone through many changes. The biggest of which was moving to New Mexico! She is loving having Laura at home full time and is in love with the country life. She has seen more animals here then you could find at a petting zoo!! Her favorite being "baby doats" aka baby goats. She is also the owner of her first pet. A kitten named winter. They are be best of friends! Ruth also experienced her first 2 weddings this year as cousin Susan and Aunt Carlena got married!! On the way to Carlena's wedding Ruth experienced a first we all could have done without. Her first stomach virus. Yuck! Poor thing was sick for about a week!! We have counted our many blessings for our very healthy girl up until then and know so many have it much worse.

Our routine: most days look something like this:
7:30-wake snuggle and play
8:30-breakfast
9-12 play or do an errand
12- lunch
12:30-1-play
1-3nap
3-5:30- play
5:30- dinner
6-7-play
7-7:30- get ready for bed songs and story.
7:30- night night!

Always on the move

Ruth 18 Months Old!

Wow our tiny baby is already 18 months old! We couldn't be more excited and proud of the sweet spunky girl she is. Here is a little about Ruth these days:

Weight- 22.3 lbs
Height-31.5 inches
Head- 17.5 inches
Clothes size- 12-18m
Shoe size- 5
Diaper size- 4

Likes- Baby (her doll), gymnastics, going for walks, singing songs (row row row your boat, rise and shine and give God the glory, and head shoulders knees and toes are all favorites), being in the kitchen with Mama, babies, cheese, cell phones, dogs, reading books, "treats" (anything sweet), swings, lemons, helping Mama with chores, figuring things out, bellybuttons, being tickled.

Dislikes- when Mama leaves the room without her, being told no, laying down for a nap, being dropped off for church or other activities, sitting still,

Communication- Ruth has a vocab of about 25 words! Right around 18 months she started pairing two words together. Her first sentence was talking to herself in a mirror. She could see several of her reflections and she said "Hi Babies!" It was too cute! Ruth also does a few signs for different items. We really like that she is able to communicate with us. It really cuts down on us both being frustrated.

Mobility- As most people know Ruth was a very steady walker/climber by the time she turned 1. Since then she has gained more and more balance and agility. She enjoys doing her gymnastics classes swinging on the bars, climbing, and learning to jump on the trampoline. She is pretty good at keeping up with the older kids in her class.

Schedule- Right now Ruth goes back and forth between these two schedules depending on if we have a morning activity or not.

Sew Fun: Rompers and Dresses

Over the last 6 Months I have been enjoying my Christmas gift of a sewing machine. A few months ago I posted about sewing my first dress for Ruth. She is finally big enough to wear it! If you want to see how she has grown click here! Here are a few pictures from before church last week!

Each week Steve is gracious enough to let me enjoy a girls craft night in Mill Valley. Each week we all work on our own craft projects while enjoying catching up and sharing words of wisdom in the areas of ministry and parenting. The last two weeks I worked on my first romper! I was pretty pleased with the results! Here are a few pictures from the 4th of July.
