December 2013

December is always busy with events, parties and musicals! We have made a commitment too working at enjoying everything it has to offer. We desire to see the world through Ruth's eyes and re-experience the magic and joy of the season.

So far we have hosted a TBC women's tea. It was a lovely time and fun to have all our Christmas goodies made to enjoy at the beginning of the month! Ruth was a good helper and didn't get into too much trouble!

We enjoyed going to Golden Gate Seminary's Children's Christmas party. Ruth was given the opportunity to shop for us and have the gift wrapped up for her. We all had such a good time we didn't even take any pictures. We were simply to busy enjoying ourselves.

Ruth was the start of the Children's Church Musical this year too! She was the Bethlehem star for the youth's performance, an angle with the babies, and baby Jesus for the nativity. It was truly a sweet time. We are so proud of our little drama queen!

Our trip to visit Santa was stress free and fun. Santa offered to hold Ruth and so we gave it a try. She had a deer in the headlights look the whole time. she finally reached out and touched his fuzzy suit but no smiles were given to Santa. Regardless we like the picture. It really captured the moment.

Ruth 8 Months Old!

Weight- 16lbs 6oz
Height-?? (Getting taller every day!!)
Clothes Size- 3-6m and 6m
Shoe Size- 2
Diaper Size- 3

Likes- moving, finger foods, standing, smiling, people, lost shoes, paper, her highlights book, being picked up after a bump, kisses, tickles under her chin, putting things in her mouth,  kids, chasing mom around, and holding a sock in her mouth.

Dislikes- being put in the pin, falling, waiting for a meal, getting stuck, being out of sight from mom or dad, the church nursery, being held by someone else if she can see mom or dad, laying down from nap, the first diaper change of the day, sleeping with a poo diaper, and startling noises.

On the move- we have said we woolly no longer be surprised at her quick developments in this area... Yet we continue to have our mouths hang open as we watch her! Ruth began pulling to standing at the beginning of the month. She is now slowly cruising around the furniture and standing alone for up to 20 seconds. Thankfully we only had one majorly hard week when she first learned to stand up. She couldn't figure out how to get back down without falling. This is hard for a family with all concrete floors! We introduced her to the "pin" as pure necessity. It gave her some practice of learning to fall on mats. We also had a hard time with her standing in her bed. For a full week she would stress us all out refusing to lay down and sleep. After a full hour of crying, checking for wet diapers and continually laying her back down she finally fell a slew sitting up! Eventually nature does win out.

Teeth- Nothing to report yet but we're checking every day!

Firsts- Ruth celebrated her first Thanksgiving this year. Ruth and Laura woke up in time to watch the entire Macy's Thanksgiving day Parade. Ruth enjoyed watching Big Bird and the crew. Laura Cooked our first family Thanksgiving and we all enjoyed Ruth LOVING her first roll. Over all it was a wonderful day with our little turkey.

8:30-10- play
10- nap
11:45- wake and bottle

5- dinner veggie, meat, yogurt

Ruth 7 Months Old!

7 months ago my sweet baby was born! It's hard to believe we're now on the down hill to a year! I'm not sure I can handle that! Once again Ruth is keeping us on our toes this month. She is into everything! Thank goodness for our newly installed baby gate! Here is a little about our sweet little girl:

Weight- 15 lbs 4 oz
Height- 21.25 Inches
Clothes Size- 3M and 3-6M
Shoe Size- 2
Diaper Size- 3

Likes- Cords, holding her hair brush during a diaper change, paper, abandoned flip flips, playing with her cup, tags, sucking on a rag, being held, being smiled at, the baby in the mirror, sweet potatoes and squash, Cooper, rolling on her tummy while getting a diaper change, crawling into tight spaces, her light up duck, standing with assistance, kids.

Dislikes- being set down to wait for a bottle, green beans and pears, getting stuck in a tight space, laying down for a nap, bumping her head, being held horizontally, not being able to see mom or dad, 5PM-6:30PM, being dressed on her back, being strapped into the car seat.

Food- This month Ruth was introduced to many yummy new foods (and a few gross new foods like baby beef and chicken... Ruth somewhat agreed.) Her tried list now includes (in order of which they were tried): rice Cereal, green beans, peas, carrots, prunes, Beef, pears, apples, squash, sweet potato, French bread, chicken, macaroni, and banana. Our plan had been to introduce all veggies before anything else however our plan was upset when Ruth got constipated. By order of the doctor we were instructed to give prunes, prune juice, and pears. They cleared her right up and she didn't mind getting fruit early at all. So far the only things she has totally rejected has been green beans and pears. We decided we would try them again in a month or so.

On the move- Ruth has mastered the army crawl and can get anywhere she wants to go. Because of our concrete floors she slides with ease and has had little motivation to learn to use her knees. Our carpeted friends houses and church has frustrated her and in the last 2 weeks she has started taking a few steps on her knees. We expect she will transition to just knees very soon.

Teeth- We have had no teeth show up yet. Pops (Steve's dad) checked them while we were in Seattle and told use he can feel them coming!

Firsts- Ruth made her first trip to Seattle and enjoyed meeting Aunt Kayla, Uncle Mike and their dog Lilly. This trip left us all excited for the holiday season where we will be back for Ruth's first Christmas. Ruth enjoyed her first Halloween this month too. She dressed as a Baby Ruth Candy Bar and was the cutest piece of candy we've ever seen. We all enjoyed spending the evening with the Barber family and walking the seminary for candy. Finally Ruth made her musical debut at church with her first performance. She did a great job and did all the motions :) mama and daddy were very proud!

An average day looks like this:

7:30AM- Wake up, Milk, Cereal (maybe a fruit too), Play
10AM-12PM- Nap
12PM-Wakeup, Milk, Veggie, Play
2:30PM-3:30PM- Nap
3:30PM-Wakeup play
4:00PM-Milk
4:30PM-Veggie/Meat, (maybe a fruit) Play
5:45PM Maybe a bonus nap if needed
6:15PM- Bath
6:45PM- Milk
7PM- Night Night Ruth!

Seattle Trip

This October we had the chance to go to Seattle for a mini vacation. This was Ruth's First time to Nana and Pop's house and meeting her Uncle Mike and Aunt Kayla. The trip was a blast! We got some much needed rest and relaxation. It got us very excited for Christmas time when we will get to add Shannon and the girls to the mix! Here are a few of our favorite pictures from the trip:
